State Representative Ray Zirkelbach was recently featured in a Des Moines Register story documenting his return from service in Iraq as part of the Iowa National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 133rd infantry. You can see him in the photo at the left with his wife, Emily, and their daughter, Claire. The story documents his roles as father, soldier, and State Representative:
Zirkelbach’s return gives House Democrats a little more traction. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, a Democrat from Des Moines, called Zirkelbach “a fantastic asset” to the Legislature and his party.”I - and I believe the rest of the caucus also - consider him a hero,” McCarthy said. “It’s an example of the citizens’ Legislature at its best.”
